Stories of Hope · Episode 2

Walking Through the Valley

· 18:20

A reflective film on long seasons of illness, loss and slow healing, guided by the promise of Psalm 23:4 that we do not walk through the valley alone.

Stories of Hope is a series of reflective films about the ordinary, often hidden places where faith is tested and found steady. This episode turns to the valley: the long stretches of illness, grief and slow recovery that so many of us walk through at some point in life.

Rather than offering quick answers, the episode moves slowly through Psalm 23:4, pairing quiet landscape footage with reflection on what it means to walk through the valley of the shadow of death and to fear no evil because God is with us. It speaks honestly about the length of hard seasons, the comfort of companionship, and the hope that a valley is a road to walk through rather than a place to stay.

If you are in a valley of your own right now, we hope this gives you language for it and company in it. Please also consider reaching out to a trusted friend, pastor or counselor; you were never meant to walk this road alone.

This episode pairs well with the article When Healing Takes Longer Than You Hoped and with Carry Me Home, a gospel song written for the long road.

Scripture in this video

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
