Morning Light · Episode 1

What Scripture Says About Fear

· 9:34

Fear is part of being human, but it does not have to have the final word. A short study of three passages that speak courage into anxious hearts.

In the first episode of Morning Light, we look at three passages that have steadied God's people in frightening times: Isaiah 41:10, Joshua 1:9 and 2 Timothy 1:7. Each speaks to fear from a different angle, but all three rest on the same foundation, which is God's presence with his people.

We begin by acknowledging that fear is a normal human experience, not a sign of spiritual failure. From there, we explore God's promise to strengthen and uphold the fearful, the call to courage given to Joshua as he faced an uncertain future, and Paul's reminder that the spirit God gives is one of power, love and a sound mind.

If fear or anxiety is a constant presence for you, please consider speaking with a doctor or counselor as well; seeking help is part of wisdom, not a lack of faith. For a devotional companion to this episode, read Be Still: Finding Peace in an Anxious World.
